Cut them like they screw the vendors over.

We want a reduction of 30%. Wait for them to agree. Now we also get a reduction of another 10% because we are going to get this done within 60 days.

We will be back next year to discuss another cut.

Without SCM the company would just not survive!

The way to bring about efficiency in SCM is to remove all of the family members who populate the BU. Knowledge and skills are not valued in SCM but nepotism is. Relationships mean more in the group as opposed to ability. I enjoyed a 40 year career with the company that recently ended with the latest company transformation.

"SCM, SCM, SCM (a scene from the Godfather), what have you done to deserve this overdue attention?".

  1. Perhaps the constant savings reporting using someone else's work?
  2. The lack of Project Management acumen to finally understand your place in the VALUE CHAIN?
  3. The massive migration to IT to inundate them with useless processes and metrics?
  4. The constant screw up in choosing contractor and vendors using lessons learned that were never truly understood?

I'd say ALL OF THE ABOVE, so if you end up with 50%+ cut, I'd say what you would say "I think there is still room to save more...say 15% more???).

In any case...Arrivederci Bambinos...

SCM does nothing but slow the company down. Hopefully 100%. Outsource it to Microsoft.
