Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Are managers impacted or it just workers?

Its leadership's fault for the current state of things.

The country manager?? So you're saying that one person who has NO idea who most of the people are just goes down a list?
Based on patterns this time, that's hard to believe.

What about the talent acquisition / staffing team? Were they also laid off? They were pretty mediocre, and the senior director and director really bad. Anyone know, curious.

Ex people manager, ex NetApper. Typically even the directors are not consulted about which people to cut. It's generally the country manager and HR sitting in a room walking down a list of people going 'yes, no, yes, no'. That is why good people get cut.

Welcome to Netapp. Unfortunately the first-level managers only know about cuts if their members of their team is being affected. If they are going to be impacted they usually don't get advance warning.

Really sorry for all the folks hit this time (and the previous times), it's never easy to get layed off.

That being said, I got hit about 4 years ago when the company decided they didn't think QA was important anymore. Best thing that has happened to me careerwise. I'm at a better company working on newer technology and love it.

Some people managers were cut in solidfire. Almost entirely first-level managers who didn’t know about the cuts themselves until the day before though.
