Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

It’s not over full timers...

Ok so they let go of the less tenured full timers...to pay them less severance. So now us old time full timers will be told to go part time that our hours are no longer available ...so they don’t pay us severance or unemployment. We will lose benefits and TOTALLY sc* ^~d over
I’m happy I didn’t lose my job today but still feel like a sitting duck!

I went in today expecting as an ASM to be given severance and let go. I was told I was remaining an ASM but now 45 hours instead of 50. Only other option is to quit. So I guess I'm stuck. I was actually hoping to run but now I cant.
Anyone else in same situation? Wish I had an option. But I also know after the holidays itll all happen again. Next I guess they'll say your 40 hours now.

Check this out... I’m still on furlough & today during the company wide blood bath I get a call from my SM that I’m being brought back next week back to my full time job me & another co worker that is still on furlough like me right now ... what is in store for us? & how were they able to bring us back at this point?

They will performance manage any of the older Associates out or offer early retirement. As the ASMs that were “demoted” leave the company they are not replacing their positions. It is a horrible place to be in.

I had the most faith the company would turn around and now I don’t. I’m grateful I found a new job on my own time as I would have been laid off today.

Eventually they will follow what they've done to D and even some C volume stores. Which is: The only FT person in each store will be the Store Manager. Every one else, including KEY HOLDERS, will be forced to go part time. They will be part time supervisors (merchandising or operations), or they will be lesser paid "part time lead/associate with keys".

How do I know this? I SAW it happen at my D volume store before I quit last year. My D volume store had an SM who was an ex District Ops manager, who was a guinea pig for it. Because she worked her BUTT off and made it WORK for her, they used that as an example and a reason to cut FT employees in higher volume stores.

I warned you people about this last year and told you it was going to happen, but i got laughed out the room. And now my friends who stayed tell me they got let go. It is TERRIBLE and I hate to see so many good people get thrown in the fire like they're nothing.

I am so incredibly sorry this happened. I wish you all the best of luck.
