Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

just outta curiosity

for anyone in the know, what are the odds that as a full time receiving ‘manager’ with no keys, at a D volume store, with almost 15 years under my belt, that i’ll have to wake up for work tomorrow? lol, i’ve seen it coming for a few years now but haven’t heard anything yet

Our store went from 9 FTers (none holding keys) to 6. We lost 3, while anticipating we would lose at least 5. Makes you wonder if more is to come very soon.

I am from a D volume store and was wondering if anyone knew the ratio of full timers to part timers. If so I’m next lol.

There are only 3 key holders in my store.... would they let me go with two remaining? There is part timer training, maybe I am next.

Just counted, we have 14 full timers, so you are saying 7-10 people will be laid off?

A volume store with 10 is 5-6 too many.

My wife was a receiving manager with 12 years at her store, filled on for every position, did whatever they needed. B+ store with 3 full-timers, and she just got sent packing. immediately. Was told it was determined by seniority. She was cleaning out her locker, crying and near hysteria. The store has no one to receive except a part-time kid who has no idea what to do. My wife is 56, and the two full-timers they kept are mid-late 60's, so they won't be able to keep up in receiving. They are hard side snd soft side only. She said her manager was bawling asking how she was going to keep receiving going with nobody qualified or able to do it. File for unemployment immediately and head over to target for a job.

Any word of how many ft workers are going to stay for an A volume store? The store I work in have over 10 full time workers...

My heart goes out to everyone who had the rug pulled out from underneath them today. I just got laid off this morning. I was told it was because I was the "least tenured FT employee." It's so stupid for them to do this though. Our store is soooo understaffed right now it's ridiculous. I was the only non-management person who could work in both departments and front end. As a Customer Service Trainer I was really kind of a "floater" who work wherever I was needed on any particular day. They won't have that cushion anymore when someone quits or calls out.

I’m at a similar store, B+ volume, they used to hand out FT positions like candy around here.

How the hell do you have 9 fts? We're a B+ volume store with 3 full timers, no supervisors and 2 ASMs.

I work in a B+ store with 9 full timers. I assume 5 of us are being let go today, from what I've been reading.

thank you; it’s mentally exhausting, on one hand i know eventually either me or my store will be gone, and i’d kind of like to just move on now; but for all the things i hate about the company lately, it is still a job, and for that i’m grateful

i made the cut only because i’m the only full timer here besides keys, but every other store in the district will lose at least one, and in a few weeks at least one of our keys will most likely be shuffled around

also, yeah i’m full time with no keys; i’m also the only person in receiving, the only rtv clerk, the only one who picks and ships customer orders and transfers

No such thing as a full time supervisor in a d volume store with no keys. Really?? And you should be let go.

Full time receiving here. I was laid off about 45 minutes ago. 1 week severance for every year at the company. They also reduced an asm's pay by 10k. I was told its company wide, and that I can reapply for a part time receiving position, at a reduced pay, on sep. 3rd. Needless to say, I wont be reapplying.

my guess is have ops ‘oversee’ it and assume pt’s with minimal training who can barely use a scanner will do the grunt work

So who will "run" receiving if the "Managers" are let go?

I’m not sure what the structure is for a D volume store. I’m in a C and we had a total of 3 FT without keys. We were only allowed 2 and had to let the least tenured go this morning. It did happen to be the receiver, but the other 2 FT had more yrs on the job.

I'm a full time receiver as well. 8 years under my belt. Sitting in the back waiting to hear. Weve got 13 pallets today so id get the news sooner rather than later

It’s based on tenure and how many full time slots the store has. Are there any full timers with less years on the job than you?
