If your an ASM, which I am. I was in this position before. A wise man told me after I took the demotion and was fired a month later for bogus reasons, "if they offer you money (severance) to leave, take it. Taking a demotion doesnt secure your future" just thought this may help some today.

I took a severance when it was offered to me to stay.
It doesn’t help you to stay. You will become bitter and be worse off. I’m glad I left. I had no clue what I was going to do, but I was able to find something, move and be happy with my life again!
Take the severance and get out of this awful, heartless company that is stuck in the dark ages. Move on, every career trend is working against you.
