Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Stop playing the blame game

These lay offs are horrible. They are devastating for all involved. A lot of people are placing blame or taking their anger out on the wrong people. These lay offs have nothing to do with the part time associates. The Store Manages have absolutely no say so in who stays or who goes, and they are all broken hearted over having to be ones to deliver the bad news. No one at the store level was consulted or knew anything In advance, we were all blindsided by this. These decisions came from the corporate office, made by people who you probably never knew. They are short sighted and will destroy morale and productivity and will make working in a store miserable. So please don’t blame the people who didn’t get laid off, everyone is worse off because of this.

However, how they delivered the news to my daughter, who worked there for 7 years, she was told not to say a word to no body. She couldn't even say good bye to her work friends. They didn't even tell her it was a corporate thing either. Just that she was being laid off and she could re-apply and work part time. This might be the best thing that happened to her.

Exactly, morale is already rock bottom, let’s not turn on each other. We’re actually in this together, and not in that empty platitude way that MT says
