Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Today lay offs

Guys all these decisions are made by people that don’t know any of us, they just saw numbers and if your store was over staff then you went. Has nothing to do with how good or bad you were. Store managers had no input they were told late
Last night who was going and that was it. I know I was an extra ASM with less tenure than the others in the building. It’s what it is.

To "It is what it is". Well said..and to the poster who told then to shut up..you have no right to say that..it is his/her right to their opinion. It is refreshing to see a post that is not negative.

NEW YORK (AP) — Bed Bath & Beyond said Tuesday that it’s cutting 2,800 jobs at its corporate headquarters and stores — about 5% of its overall workforce — as the troubled home goods retailer looks to pivot more of its business online.

The company said the job cuts will save it about $150 million a year, before taxes. The figure represents a portion of the anticipated savings from a corporate restructuring plan announced earlier this year.

Got let go today . They don’t care about their employees and never have . They are so underwater that they can’t he themselves out of it . If they close again due to Covid they will not be able to open again . They are ruining the stores and customers are not happy with the changes

Shut up. It's not "it is what it is." MT is a vulture capitalist, and he only cares about how much he's going to run away with when he inevitably files for chapter 11

Over staffed? Pffft. I was one of two keyholders in my store to be fired. They are now down to 10 employees. 10! Chew on that. Almost 9 years of dedicated service. F**k baby and bed bath.

My daughter who worked there for 7 years and knew every position in the store was laid off today. She was told to keep it quiet and not to tell anyone. She also said she would receive severance pay for 1 week for every year she worked there. She was told she will receive and email from HR and a call and that she can ask questions then. She couldn't even say good bye to her co-workers. Pretty sh–ty way to treat a long time employee. Be open and transparent about it.

You mean if the product even made it to the stores yet lol. Another thing that this company can't do right like sending all the product on the same consolidation order. Has been my biggest pet peeve for years. Oh well not my problem anymore!!
