Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Today: NetApp Action

Layoffs expected today across a number of groups. Alliances will be hard hit as well as unsuccesful products (HCI) and legacy sales org structures in sales, marketing, support etc. Cuts have been planned for sometime and many people have been told they are at risk/impacted. Focus will be transitioning legacy products and unsuccesful OEM/acquisitions in favor of the cloud focused areas with position elimination.

Everyone should get a call regardless if you are on the list or not.

This was planned early August but was delayed.

Hey Jeet, fellow victim here. Yeah, it's BS when good engineers pay the price of bad (bad, bad, bad) management.

I'm almost relieved to have been let go. The lack of capable leadership was just s—y. And knowing that your work isn't really valued by the "leaders" is... well, you know.

There is SO MUCH managerial deadweight at NetApp. Instilling that "positive inclusive culture for our employees!! (happy happy joy joy thrive!!)" should start by ending the game of org-chart musical chairs.

Post from TheLayoff.com

I have no idea how much a key cloud dev guy makes but it could be they have an outsize salary which makes them a RIF target. We always said at the ICT site that being the facility manager was the kiss of death since it seemed like they always got hammered during RIFs. Frankly, they can keep two junior employees on staff for what they are paying a senior principal engineer...

I'm in RTP and I got cut. Worst part is that the cuts make no sense. One example: they cut some key cloud dev guys. But I thought one of the NetApp primary initiatives was the cloud...?!

Maybe would have been better to cut the guys who just send emails around announcing so-and-so getting promoted here and there and working under this or that director. What value has all this reshuffling ever bought NetApp.

I know of impacts in RTP, Boulder, SVL, and BGL. Hard to tell how big this is, since they make us piece it together on our own instead of sending out something that has some explanation and lays out the scope of the action. Best of luck to all those impacted! Hang in there!

A friend of mine got impacted in alliance - sad .. didn’t have any internal information about layoffs - at least companies like Cisco had clear announcement - this cane in as a total surprise.

This is a large layoff across the entire organization. Over 5% of the company is being let go globally today. All groups are affected. Deep cuts into engineering, old and new.

Just got dinged myself, here in RTP. No idea how many were impacted, but it's promising to be absolutely brutal.

To be honest, upper mgmt has been re-organizing itself a LOT for the past few months. I stopped trying to track the org chart changes. They're flailing.

In any case, I wish the best for all of you out there who are now...free to pursue other opportunities, as they say.

Why would everyone get a call, even if they're not impacted?
