Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

CLUB and Expectations

Word is CLUB is going to be restructured for the holiday. Company is going to be keeping a more aggressive eye on employees who struggle with it. Management might have to discipline at the same level as a no call/insubordination which include write ups. Might start as early as September but apparently they’re are pulling all pay benefits/competitions from getting club referrals and forcing it as much as possible. Have fun.

Well kids the truth behind the Club Card is simply this...Bass Pro gets 80.00 dollars from Citibank for every application whether they are approved or not. We are no longer desired if we have experience , the Credit Card is all they care about. Free money

We had a fantastic employee at our store. Customers drove up to 100 miles because of his expertise. He was well known nationally as well. He excelled at customer service, educating the customers and selling them the right product.
But he was very soft- spoken and uncomfortable pushing a credit card. Because of that he's gone and replaced by someone just there for a paycheck.
We lost a real ambassador for the store and the outdoors because pushing a card was the store's priority.
The managers didn't recognize what a resource he was, they only looked at his card number numbers and ran him off.

Been with the company for 8 years and CLUB has honestly ruined most of the day to day work mentality. Most people know they don’t have to actually work hard if they get clubs. Constant pressure and chatter over the radio about getting club your whole shift. Customers get p-ss-d when it’s their 3rd time getting asked. There’s something scummy and different when pushing a credit card instead of just normal customer service.

I haven’t heard anything about that but is it really that difficult to sell a club card once a week? This company has been pushing it for a couple years now. If you’re still working there but complaining about the expectations then it’s your fault. Instead of whining be a grownup and accept that things are different and move on

Ya I got something in an email yesterday. Seems to be up to the store manager when to start enforcing it. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are ranking employees based off this information.
