3 yrs ago I had no choice and was given a package - I was just shy of 50 and over 200% of my #. Only out of work for a very short period and banked most of the $$$. I honestly felt worse for the 20% of my group that weren't offered the package, as they sat their hanging by a thread - Cisco made their life miserable and force them to leave with NOTHING. If you have any idea that you will be offered a package my suggestion to you would be start looking for another job immediately, get something lined up and take the money. There is life after Cisco, lots of other tech companies are doing great and getting offered a package doesn't come around often. Consider this experience a gift; a blessing in disguise.
Good luck my Cisco family.

You are only listed as "retired" if you put it on social media (LinkedIn, etc). All a background check would reveal is that you no longer work at Cisco.
LR for LR. Not sure how a “retire status” would come up on a background check or why that would make a difference.
Are you talking about ER or LR package ? If you took ER package, did you see any problem to find another job ? I heard someone got rejection by company due to his retired status found by the background checking agent.
