Part Timers and the 180 day time frame

What will happen when you are not brought back to Full Time within the 180 day furlough and part time work status classification? In no meeting I have been in has this come up or been mentioned. I put the question in "anonymously" for the boss' boss, but it was not addressed in the larger group meeting.

Chevron has to many people how it is. Look at there site. They are getting cut 1/3 pre merger.

My department brought back people on furlough. Hopefully that means chevron wants all of us.

So in my dept no one was brought back from full furlough status. Anyone working zero hours was laid off.
I knew two people who were part time and were brought back, but all the other part time employees were laid off.

Chevron doesn’t normally do furloughs. Prior to the acquisition they announced 6000 intended layoffs. I’m sure that number is now closer to 6900.

You/they won't be brought back early. The earliest you/they could be brought back is at the ~180 day (whatever is published in the furlough contract) date. Since it's part of the furlough contract, don't get your/their hopes up you/they will come back early. Once the ~180 days is up, you/they will then:

  • Stay on the furlough list;
  • Be immediately severed;
  • Be brought back full time; or
  • Be brought back part time.

I'm telling you/them, from 1st hand knowledge, only a couple dozen of the hundreds of people that went on the company-wide furloughs, have made it back to the company. Everyone else was severed.
