Some red badges were let go Friday 7/24 or so they thought from the rumor mill. Monday, 7/28 people are logged in as the contracting company never officially notified. Access removed, email turned off, and spark turned off. 7/28 Sitting here with my cisco laptop waiting on the official word that I have been laid off. Why are they waiting?

I have a personal feeling about Cisco management. I interviewed for a contractor for a position reporting to a Director. The interviews went extremely well. She told me directly on the interview she was not hiring me (punch to the gut). She then said that she had a much better suited position as a FTE with a manager that reports to her and my skills would fit better in that team plus it was a regular employee. I went through 6 more interviews. I was offered the position and accepted. A few days later I was called and told hiring is temporarily froze but I will be starting in about 3 weeks. OK, no big deal. She calls me back 2 weeks later says I am hired but I have to be a contractor and get paid less. Lucky for me I had 4 others potential offers coming in quickly. I accepted just because I was going to get a paycheck. The Friday before I was suppose to start I got a call from the job I took. I was offered the job, accepted, and had to call the contracting company that I wasn't showing up. My phone got lit up by the manager, the sister manager, and the Director. I told them all the same thing...I interviewed and was offered a regular FTE position and then they tell me I am a contractor getting less money. I told them I found permanent FT work at an employer that never has layoffs and actually gets more work when the economy goes to garbage. If I was there, I would be out of work again now. I am so glad I didn't go there.

Isn't it lovely the way that Cisco waves the Virtue Signalling Flag stating that they are not doing layoffs while screwing thousand of red badges.

My manager had the audacity to post about "all of the opportunities" at Cisco on linkedin before we could even get out of the virtual door and turn in our badges.

Some of them were notified late Friday afternoon (7/24) that it was their last day.

I really hate BUs that mistreat contractors like that. There's absolutely no reason that they couldn't have given them 2-4 weeks notice that they were not being renewed. And, if the reason for not telling them is to protect Cisco from disgruntled contractors, let them go a couple of weeks ago and pay them for the lack of notice.

When I'm a contractor, and I get pushed to finish up tasks especially near the end of the month or quarter, and I'm not getting new tasks to replace them (or getting BS tasks to make it look like work) I know they're about to give me bad news with no notice.

Our org is (apparently) taking the budget hit by not renewing contractor SOWs. This s—s. Some of them were notified late Friday afternoon (7/24) that it was their last day.

@2gox, @2mwv, @2xuz & @3twm:

I wish you the best w/ your job search. A friend just told me this morning that his last day is the end of Aug, but another person's last day on his team is this Fri, 7/24.

I hate how some people get more notice than others. For those that get less notice, it's more of an impact to their family to lose an income for anywhere from a brief time to a long time.

Depending on what you do, it seems like companies are hiring as I keep getting contacted by recruiters. I just wish they could actually comprehend my resume. Not every person who works at Cisco is a network engineer with a CNE certification.

I feel sorry for you.
Timing is such that you are LRd at same time that racists were fired.
Good luck distinguishing yourself from those clowns in an already unfriendly job market for older whvte men

My BU is contractor heavy and some have stressed they may not be returning soon because of contract renewal issues.
