I am wondering if anyone has returned to work. Looks like my store has not brought back any booksellers. Are there plans to do so? Any thoughts on timing? We are still locked out of Dayforce. Gathering corporate is not allowing for stores to add headcount.

They're using Covid as an excuse to not hire back employees who were making too much money. They'll hire more kids at minimum wage if and when the time comes.
The more employees working under 30hours is an intended effect of ObamaCare. If you work more than 29 hours, you get extra federally mandated healthcare benefits covered by your employer. Predictably, companies everywhere immediately responded by turning retail America into a part time nation.
It’s too bad they changed their labor model to having fewer employees working 25-30 hours with a schedule at the whim of the store vs. bringing more people back at 15 hours with a schedule. Right now long term dedicated weekend/evening employees are out of luck unless maybe for the holidays. I wonder when furloughs will turn to terminations.
it's nice to be making a livable wage while on unemployment, something B&N could never provide me with even after 10+ years of service.
You are exactly the type of person who should be thrown off of unemployment.
You’ve been offered your job back and you refused it because you’re making more on your welfare.
There are only a handful of employees and managers at the stores right now. They offered for me to come back but because I didn't have completely open availability I am remaining furloughed. Just keep collecting unemployment until then and hope for the best. I will say that it's nice to be making a livable wage while on unemployment, something B&N could never provide me with even after 10+ years of service.
"Hi, does anyone know anything about Paramus store #2597?"
Well, you haven't heard anything yet, I think you might start trying to look for something else. I guess you lost your health benefits if your were full time. It's a shame they haven't at LEAST give you an answer of ANY type due to your 18 + years of working there. Sounds like thy don't care at all.
Hi, does anyone know anything about Paramus store #2597? I'm still waiting to hear back about work. It's a pretty large store with a cafe. I haven't received any answers that indicate a commitment to bring me & some other long-time staff back. I've been working for 18+ years.
Look under the thread “ any stores closed for good”
Stores ARE OPEN.
If you haven’t been called to return . You WILL NOT BE !
THAT’S the TRUTH!
It doesn't help anyone to make assumptions re Dayforce or to criticize the company. Covid 19 has made things very difficult for everyone. The new CEO had just begun to initiate some very cool changes when Covid knocked the wind right out of his sails and sales. Try staying positive, call your store director & ask directly about Dayforce rather than assuming the worst. I am certain most store directors and the few beleaguered colleagues who are holding the fort would love to see all hands back on deck....if only Covid would go away and sales would rise again!
No, you cannot run a store on six employees. Customer service will definitely suffer even more. That’s why customers stop coming in they can’t get the premier service they once had. Those days are long gone. That’s why they go to Amazon.
I was called back June 1st, and i'm not a manager.
There is only a handful of us in a large store, and though i'm back,
my hours are greatly reduced.
I'm not complaining, but thus far, that's where i'm at.
Well my employee discount still works so I don’t think that’s the case. In addition everyone was shut out of dayforce. You can’t run the stores with only 6 employees.
Congratulations you’re an EX employee!
If BN shut you out of Dayforce, what do you think they’re trying to tell you ?!
You’ve been fired.
If you can’t get in-
You e been terminated.
Typical BN behavior!
All the managers and a few part time booksellers at my store.
