If you look at the corporate org charge there are many division managers with literally zero reports. They have no one under them. What do these people do all day? There are many other DM's with only one or two reports Looks to me that those are some six figure salaries that can easily be cut over productive and useful lower paid employees. Way too many chiefs and not enough indians in this company.

The company makes so many odd choices when it comes to leadership. It’s often hard to ever determine why someone gets promoted vs someone who never reaches leadership. There’s a lot of nepotism and brown nosing unfortunately. Unfortunately doing a great job at the desk level year after year isn’t necessarily a formula to move up in the company.
The OP is so right, I can't believe how many managers there are with no reports, and are they really a manager? I would think they would be an individual contributor, how is it these people weren't shown the door years ago?
Very very well said !!!!!!!!
Usually tdys will get you there.
A lot of these "division managers" who were promoted are nothing more than drinking buddies with site directors and other officers. It is pathetic. Just a gaggle of useless corporate jack offs who either drank, blew, or cooked the books and performed unethically to falsely show good numbers and success to make their way up.
These leaders exist at all levels in the org. their positions are acquired through manipulation or just knowing the right people no performance intelligence, or honesty required. They know theyre unfit and it makes them feel insecure. If they feel the least bit threatened by you they will slander and sabotage you so you don’t succeed.. dont want to risk you making them look bad. They are toxic beings who thrive in toxic environments and eliminate the good ppl the company is in dire need of. t–ds need to be drained.
Serious question, and not even being sarcastic here !?
How did so many of these mid level managers get their jobs without working their way up?
Because that is what it certainly seems like has happened.
Agree with previous poster 1000 percent!
Way too many people telling others what to do yet doing little themselves. Basically just critics. Looking at a file and telling what you should’ve done. Meanwhile many of these people put in these management positions have never even done these jobs. Yet they get to tell others how to do it. There is a reality check needed for many of these managers at Allstate insurance and they need to be given telephones and actually do something productive and deal with the customer instead of telling others what they should have done. Anyone can do that just about. So many of these managers in this company need to be given a telephone and take loss reports or handle claims and deal with the customers directly as that’s what this company needs most. Way too many people in management criticizing others and only talking to a customer on a complaint but never anything productive. Let them show us how it’s done since they pat themselves on the back for being experts. Show us excellent customer service and handling of claims. After all this is what an insurance company’s main function is. Handle claims and have enough people to handle the claims. Management has pushed around people for so many years let them be the experts with the customer directly on the telephone taking a claim or loss report
