HR has communicated that we will have to post for 4 jobs and that none of those have to be our current job. If I don’t post for my current job, and I don’t EOI, am I still eligible for the severance benefit package if I am not selected for one of the other jobs? I really want a new job as part of all this, but don’t want to risk my severance if I am not selected.

Yes, EOIs can apply for unemployment benefits and CVX will not protest.
Would I be able to get unemployment if I receive a voluntary severance?
If you’re laid of, you get the package - even if you didn’t EOI. As long as you don’t do something dumb and get fired before you are laid off. Been doing layoffs at Chevron for YEARS so I shud know.
This is a good question that I’ve been asking too. I want a different job through all the mess. But I have 14 years experience and at my PSG that’s a significant severance to consider. Do I have to post for my current job in order to stay eligible for the severance if I don’t land anything when I don’t post for my I own job? I have heard that, legally, it is viewed as though you have “quit” if you don’t post for your own job and therefore CVX doesn’t have to pay you severance. Anyone else in this situation?
“I thought you had to post for your own job plus three others“... that was the rules last ROM ...but not this round. Make sure you read all the fine print when the hunger games begin.
If the software engineer can walk and chew gum at the same time, yes, he can EOI.
Can a software engineer EOI?
I thought you had to post for your own job plus three others.
Anyone know the date they will make the next EOI available to select? Have not received any notifications yet to allow for selection.
The OP does not want to leave as he/she has clearly stated. No reason to EOI. So the only 3 outcomes would be, Job that's likable, job that's unlikable, Let go with severance.
To EOI would be potentially passing up a likable job or maybe a so-so different job. This is obviously a young person with a career ahead of them. Not everyone wants to be on the street with no job, severance or not, but almost everyone wants a better job. The risk of a job that you don't like is always present, even if you have to find one after you get let go. Why take that chance? Most likely you will blow through whatever severance you get then still be out of a job. Just my 50 cents.
You can still get selected for a job that you didn’t apply for. (such as your current job)... so keep that in mind. CVX can still screw your over by placing you in the job. If you then quit on your own, then you don’t get the severance. So the wise thing to do is to EOI and avoid the hassle if you know you’re going to leave anyway
Just email your EVP and your boss you don't want to te work here and just want a package cause of some personal circumstance, so please don't select me. I doubt they will try to keep you then. If nothing else they might try to give you a temp/transition role until they can replace you. Or let you be a contractor possibly for bigger $ temporarily.
This time you can just EOI. No Need to apply. Just check the box if you want to leave.
You have to apply for 4 jobs even if you EOI, and if you are selected you keep a job. If you don't you get severance. Now here the rub I heard unofficially if you apply for EOI, you should get retirement UNLESS there is some reason someone else cannot do your job and they need you to stay.
Imagine the selection process, Your position is the next slated to be filled. They see your name and they see you asked for EOI. If there is a suitable candidate, they select them and they go on to the next position until you are not selected. Then you get severance. What I don't know is if they do REALLY have to go thru the process of looking at all the jobs you selected before they severe you or they severe you immediately if you EOI . I assume the former. because why ask you to select 4 jobs in the first place.
Yes if you post for 4 jobs outside of your current job and are not selected you would receive severance. With that said as soon as you post for any job you can be offered any available job and if you don’t take it you will not get severance. So if you are well though of or if you are the only available person for your current job you will be offered a job and you could end up in the same boat or worse.
Misunderstood your post. If you apply but don’t place, you still get the severance.
Just heard something different - that if you EOI, you don’t need to apply for 4 jobs.
