My son was let go April 14th Tempe Az. Was not given any reason but assumed it was COVIC related as no work to work on. He been having trouble getting unemployment payments since then. Az DES ui says he "disqualified" . He finally got through with phone call to DES UI . They say Collins let him go with "cause" with cause being tardiness/late to work. Son insists he did good work , got things out the door , was not tardy. Felt they were happy with his performance.
Can a company stab you in the back to avoid UI? Some body talk to me.

Just cause he insists he does good work doesn’t mean he actually does, plenty of people think that at our site and should be let go for the same reason, it eventually happens to all the ones with bad attendance. It is hard to get fired from this company unless you do something heinous.
If the company can show cause and prove it the state can deny unemployment benefits. Cause requires breaking works rules and yes attendance policies would be enough if properly documented. Normally claimants can appeal which is often done automatically and it will be decided by a judge.
