Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Short on $$ For 401K Match, your raises and more people back to work but........

To: Macy’s, Inc. colleagues From: Cheryl Heinonen, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications Update on Cause and Giving Programs
I’ve heard from many of you with questions on our corporate giving programs, so I wanted to share an update. Social Justice & Structural RacismMacy’s, Inc. has committed $1M in direct corporate grants to addressing racial injustice. As Jeff shared on Tuesday, we will continue our work with our long-time partners at the National Urban League and the National Action Network. We are in discussion now with other groups and will share that as we go along.

They get a tax write off for that $1M donation. Macy’s doesn’t care about its people, only money. That’s why previous layoffs never allowed more tenured people the ability to chose a position over someone who has been there fewer years. I’m a VM of 18 years. If visual goes away and I go away, is it fair that a SM who has been with the company for two years gets to keep their job when I could do it easily and better?

I understand Macys wanting to participate and contribute funds (esp to look good in public eye). But employees should be taken care of first! If there are no severance packages and the $ went to the above, people will not be happy! I'm all for BLM but don't mess with my money, honey!!

I guess employee livelihoods don't matter? Why can't we just get our raises and 401k first and then donate grants? Is that really too politically incorrect to want what your employer owes you?

Don't worry mother of three M is trying to fit in with the crowd but the track record is not clean. Soon they will be exposed for all the wrong done. I am sure they owe a lot of unpaid colleagues!!!

They should dance at home before dancing in public. It is a show that will not work to save face as someone else mentioned. Start treating employees better because no matter what everything will be exposed to unfair treatment!!!

Don't worry, they also lifted the salary reductions for Directors and above starting July 1. Meanwhile, tons of corporate associates have received no news on when they are coming back from furlough.

I guess that works out great if your a minority or a social justice warrior? What about everyone else. Do we not matter as much or something. I am a little confused, as a single mother of 3.
