I am in finance. I am not part of the MBA program but I do have an MBA. I am treated like a second class citizan in this group because I am not one of the anointed. There are just some jobs that I will never be able to apply just because a manager wants an MBA program person not an MBA person. By the way, I was a 2, 2+, 2, 2+ in that order for the last 4 years. I is part of our culture to exclude people with these fake programs we put in place. They were called the good ole boy network in the past. It is the same as the other poster said about the future leader program. Just another name for the good ole boy network.

I hate to tell you this but if you are getting 2 and 2+ you are not a “high flyer”. To get attention of management you need to be getting mostly 1’s possibly occasional 2+.
2 and 2+ indicate you are not a poor performer, slightly better than average but not a high performer.
Sorry...
There have been times where all an MBA meant was that a person couldn’t get a job upon graduation so they just decided to stay in school. Having an MBA does necessarily mean that you are more special, have a better work ethic, or a better fit in a certain position. That can be said for any academic area.
If you are able you might want to look at a different company. Get over yourself! Who here has never been humbled in their job?

If you are good enough you can advance in Chevron, anyone can. Don't blame others for your lack of progression. Yes others may not be as good as you and get advancement, life is not fair, tough. Do something about it, look for opportunities but don't sit on your rear end and simply complain.

What a bunch of whiners!
Chevron is typical for big oil /more or less typical for corporate America and life is not fair. Get used to it.
Just because you have not been hand picked as a rising corporate star or even worse someone (in your humble opinion) much less qualified than you was - that constitutes discrimination? How could that happen to someone that has been coddled their whole life and has a closet full of AYSO soccer participation medals that set them off on their journey of self worth?
You remind me of a women that sees mostly good qualities of a guy and then marries him because she is sure she can change the things she does not like. Ask her how that worked out.
If you are not willing to accept corporate America for what it is then look somewhere else for employment. No matter how much energy you pour into complaining things are not going to change.
Better yet channel that energy into productive activities and you might actually get somewhere.
Boo f&@$ing hoo.
There are greater concerns in play than your self-centered b!$&sh#t.
Grow up.
Former Chevron and MBA Development employee here. Yes it is exclusionary and elitist. Should it be retired? Probably. Will it. Hell no! When 3 of your past 4 CEOs have come through the program then it has crazy amounts of power and prestige
The MBA Development program has had a significant "success rate" over the years. I'm certain that OP is complaining about the "others" that stayed with Chevron even though they didn't rise quickly in the organization.
In recent years, there has been non-MBAs that got top jobs in Finance illustrating that job performance was more important than the Program grads.
My suggestion is that OP determine what specialty in Finance to pursue (International finance manager, SME, Tax, Treasury) and let his job performance do their talking.
Agree on exclusionary programs like this one and also future leaders and hi-pos. the fact that if you’re not able to move all over the world even if you get 1s every year means that you can never be on the fast track is b—s—. What if your spouse also has a career in the city you’re in and you can’t just up and move? “Oh but we’re so supportive of dual career couples” My a–.
All these programs reduce the employees participation to 30 percent. Others start to count their number of years to retirement. We need 100 percent participation for an enterprise to deliver outstanding results. These programs are designed to exclude majority of employees.
Oh please cry somewhere else. Do you really expect anything else? So many in Chevron are not slotted in places where they can best use talents. Who told you your MBA will get you that job anyway.
