Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

44 layoffs for the Schenectady Campus more to come

I’m sure the number will Rise well above the 44 in due time. It always comes in waves 44 here another 30 next wave. That’s about 20% and that’s sounds about right. Shipping some of the work to Europe and Poland to be closer to the customers. If it works out well so long GE in Schenectady.

The company will produce just enough to fulfill the legal obligations to all of the service contracts. Full builds are on the way down the Almighty Papa Digging for Potato flood gates.

I’m a D-Rate. So I don’t think I’m safe or hope I’m safe. I know I’m safe because you can’t quickly find a machinist with my skills, experience, and knowledge. They won’t risk losing me. So thanks for the heads up but I’m good!!!!

My husband just got his lay-off letter today for the Schenectady location in production. He left a job of 12 years to go to GE. There was red flags from the beginning and he still went. GE is just not the same as it was years ago. I see this location shutting down within 5-10 years tops

Oh Jeez I should maybe have thought twice about that callback. I left the place I went to high and dry because I wanted to go back to being overpaid sleeping in a cage 6 hours a shift, thinking I am superior to everyone else and thinking this would last forever. Now call the place you left high and dry and ask to come back!!!!! Hahaha ha Ha haha

D- Rates don't know what concessions even are. They will think it's the hot dog cart offering a sale.

One of those concessions that I heard was proposed is the d rates taking a pay cut

The jobs can be saved! The union will just have to propose certain cost concessions

@aua+15rMMqGk. Keep telling yourself that. When you get rid of support people, it means there is nothing to support. More layoffs to come, and they already know Poland can do the work. That's why it's going there.

Shipping work and jobs to Poland this is the start. If Poland can prove they can make our products than more job losses. 45 was just the start

Their will end up being layoffs 273 cannot absorb that amount of people without pushing others out,the tbfm can not even function properly to give us enough work for day to day operations let alone adding more people to the mix.

These are only support function jobs, not engineers or production workers. Rumors about massive head count reduction was over blown.
