Human Resources has already told many hourly and salaried employees that they aren't returning. They have already gone in and signed their severance package papers. They are hoping the rest of you are naive enough to go get another job and then they won't have to pay you severance. Not paying severance to you is a huge savings to the company. You need a good labor attorney to represent all of you so you get the severance you are owed. All full time employees are eligible if the company let's you go.

It is happening within a few days. They are offering one month pay as severance ! Twenty plus years and less than four thousand dollars to show for it. (Subtract seven hundred for tax)
The furloughed status means SW does not have to pay you a severance check yet... they will string all furloughed employees along for as long as possible in hopes to avoid paying a severance. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. SW has become a sleazy unethical piece of c-ap company... SR is at the center I’m sure.
Is severance pay mandatory in Florida?
In the state of Florida, no employer is legally required to offer anyone a severance pay agreement, nor is any employee legally bound to sign one unless stipulated by previous contracts. However, many companies offer employees Severance Pay Agreements upon termination.
SEA does have a severance policy (HR.0400)... and as with all policies they have the right to modify, suspend or terminate the policy at any time with no notice. Part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees (including full-time temporary employees) of SEA and independent contractors are not eligible to receive severance pay under this policy.
You are not owed or guaranteed a severance package.
I'm a furloughed salaried employee. I'd love to return to the park, but if they don't bring me back then I'll find another job. SeaWorld isn't the family it used to be.... "it's just business". I get it.. I don't like it or agree with it, but I get it.
This stuff cracks me up. Good luck with the lawsuits
Morgan and Morgan would love to take on SEA I’m sure.
I love when people don't like others replies because the truth hurts it gets a multitude of thumbs downs. 🙄
In order to qualify for severance pay, you must have been with your employer for five or more years. Furthermore, your employer must have a payroll over $2.5 million or have terminated the employment of 50 or more employees within a six-month period due to the permanent closure of all or part of their business.
Yes they do. It was in their policies as of April 1. We will win if they attempt not to give it to us and they gave it to a select few.
Severance is not a requirement or law. All they must do is warn you that your job might be lost, and that is only if certain metircs are met.
Who is saying you don’t receive severance ? Info is conflicting saying people are being called in to sign severance packages.
Or maybe the reason you haven’t received communication is that they are bringing employees back in multiple waves. Chill out. My god stop the drama especially with the labor union attorney and
protesting posts.
The Orlando Parks and a corporate have had people separated from the company and in to sign paperwork recently.
That may be the reason they are not telling you if you are returning or not. If they are not going to call you back, they owe you a severance.
We need a labor attorney to represent all of us instead of thousands of individual attorneys. Any suggestions?
Which parks has this already started ??
How are the employees being contacted from HR dept ?? The Sooner the Better...
