Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

If you're brought back, are you likely safe from layoffs?

Wondering if anyone who has been on the calls has any idea whether colleagues being brought back from furlough are relatively safe from looming layoffs? Specifically SM/sales supervisor positions? Also if a sales supervisor came back as a regular colleague will they be put back into a supervisor role eventually or is that out the window?

Correct too @5jxn+15ismmS0 Just because one was called back, doesn't mean they are safe. Restructuring will be happening soon-in stores too. I don't know any details but I do know it will be happening.

My guess, unless your store is going to close...being called back first is probably a good sign.

If you were called back already, you are not safe! There will be a major restructure happening in the next few weeks where people will be cut and Layed off.

Yes. YOU call and let your store know you want to come back and will do whatever work needs to be done. This may be just the thing that helps you get called back over someone else who hasn't been communicative or showed any interest in returning. If you really want to go back to work, let your store know this. Those returning need to be able to flex into all kinds of responsibility and do everything needed. Your store manager may very well say yes I'd like you to come back and they were happy you called to let him/her know this.

The person that made the comment about Al Sharpton is the problem with this world. No matter how you feel this is not the place for those types of comments. That is why change is needed. I don’t believe Macy’s would be ok with you working for there company.

Explain to sales managers that you know Al Sharpton and he wants to help you get your job back!
He will encourage some of his "defund the police" friends to offer any additional references needed!

good Luck!

LOL YOU calling saying you want to return is not how it works. Wake up. It's based on business needs and again seriously, wake up. Who do think will be called back first? Those who are positive and want to help the business. All the troublemakers and low performers are low on the list. All the disrespectful ones who are always telling their managers what "I AM NOT GOING TO DO...." are not even on anyone's radar. This is true for ANY job. You bring back your best first. So maybe it's time for some self reflection and honesty. Do I think Macy's is the bomb? NO but no matter what job I work in, I do it and I do it well. I am not disrespectful or lazy. It's play the game and go home....at any place you are employed. If your employer is not successful, it impacts YOUR job. Period.

4 months? Stretching that a little, right? Stores closed March 18, which as of today, June 5, is about 2 months and less than 3 weeks. How about YOU call and tell your store you want to return?

Sales managers are also doing whatever is needed, including opening and closing he store, running registers, cleaning out fitting rooms, recovery, cleaning up spills and junk left all over the place. We all do whatever we need to do!

All the misunderstandings.... If you come back and you were a sales supervisor or sales lead before the furlough, you come back in the same job, same rate of pay, benefits, etc. You may not be OPERATING as a supervisor or lead, but you still ARE a supervisor or lead in the Macy's system! Ours that came back are helping to run AyS and Fine JJewelry. Also doing ANYTHING that's needed, Ike we ALL are doing right now. Quit scaring people!

If you've been called back, consider yourself the cream of the crop, even though your title may have changed. Your chances of being laid off are less likely than those that have yet to be called. Your expectations as a regular colleague will be much higher now if you were a supervisor - which is probably why you were spared; very fortunate to be kept on board. Must ace your aps per 40, generate new clients, fulfill your BOPS, and hit your pre-sale targets while motivating your team mates by leading by example. Same pay but no title, and probably wont get the title back.
