This company and our CEO know no ends to their hypocrisy. I am offended by Marvin’s letter to all of us to address the protests. He says he knows firsthand the issues, and that they are going to be working to provide leaders with “resources”.
I don’t even know where to start. First of all, he’s in charge of one of those racist companies in the country. If he wants to show true leadership and prove that he’s really doing something, then he needs to fire his EVP for making all of his racist comments. He needs to clean his own house before he starts saying he’s going to help us clean ours.
Second, provide leaders with resources? Are those the same resources that are some incomprehensible wire tasks that everybody just clicks off on because they don’t have the time to read it or figure out the terrible grammar or typos?
If he truly wants to implement change, he needs to do some widespread diversity training and hiring practices overhaul. He needs to teach the managers how to be leaders. He needs to stop this vague intermittent “training “ he gives them every so often, mostly about unions. It needs to be a daily conversation, and he needs to start role modeling it. He needs to put an end to the constant abuse but these managers dish out with impunity. The rude and sarcastic comments, abusive tasks, the direct insults. Fair work practices to all employees not just their little a– kissers.
His managers are completely unprepared for any kind of crisis. My God, at my store if things even get a little bit busy they all freak out and become completely abusive and then run into the offices. The area staff is even worse. The crazier things get the less we see or hear from them. No emails encouraging us, no conversations about addressing problems. Just do this do that or you’re gonna get fired.
So Marvin, get your people to stop with the threats, address the perpetual racism, s-xism, and homophobia, treat associates like partners not slaves. Because that’s what you look like more every day, is a slave owner. Are you going to be a useful leader or are you going to be a useless meme? Be a man. A real man. Stand up for something, not just your own pocket.
