My team did not have to work on Black Tuesday. Management straight up said if Bob B is giving us the day, then take it.
WAKE UP. How many black people got laid off since January? If Blob wants to help black people he can start with something so simple as JOB SECURITY.
I know at least on my team. The permalancers were forced to work. They were allowed to have a few hours off. But forced to work otherwise. Though I think most people didn’t work even though they were supposed to be working from what I saw
feel sorry for the permalancers who aren’t going to get paid during this day off

It was also up to the discretion of every manager to enforce the no working. My boss emailed our team and asked us to cancel all meetings, turn on auto reply and NOT work. If you were forced to work you should have spoken up and shown them Bob’s email. If they had a problem with it you should have emailed Bob directly to let him know your boss wasn’t willing.
If you don’t want to work quit. There are plenty of people ready to replace you.
YEP! Can confirm that my department is still working, they just cancelled all our meetings. So if you’re higher up and your day just consists of meetings, you get the day off. If you have a position where you do actual work, it’s business as usual.
