Thread regarding IBM layoffs

What is their goal here?

What is the number of people they are aiming for in the long run? We are already feeling the absence of so many people and it is affecting our productivity - and in the end the bottom line - and it does not seem that IBM is done with cuts. I know this specific round is done, but everybody knows more will be coming in the future.

So really, what is the end goal here?

  1. Eliminate redundancies with Red Hat.
  2. Fortune 1000 alignment for all engagements.
  3. Cut costs by reducing headcount globally.
  4. Report another revenue contraction next quarter.
  5. Repeat all steps quarterly until company must be chopped up and it becomes someone else's problem.

The goal is easy. The CFO has already told you

  1. Streamline services. (offload low profit margin engagements)
  2. Off load commodity businesses
  3. Off load non-enterprise divisions
  4. Invest in strategic initiatives (AI, Cloud, LINUX, Redhat, blockchain, mainframe)
