Hello I’m a supervisor and have not been called back in yet. My store are reopens tomorrow with reduced hours. I’m the only “supervisor” in a store with two sales managers and two floor leads. A person on my team called to ask if I was coming back and I said “not yet”. Should I be concerned about my job?

Hooray people lost jobs but by gosh they can spend millions on fireworks in the middle of covid to show the United States Macy’s is still the top retail store for show. Macy’s was big on helping others but in the end did not once ask if any of furloughed colleagues were all right .. not once. All the money colleagues donated to United way and other charities throughout the years because we were kind and caring and when the chips were down not even an how are you ? Do you need anything? How can we help? Severance is one lump sum spread over so many weeks , so if you were told to go on unemployment until called back you need to check the lump sum as it looks to be spread over one week for each year and will screw up your unemployment . Macy’s does not care but promotes the retail giant as we care and give back to all communities just not the loyal60 hardworking people that made you the profits Shame on Macy’s instead of millions in fireworks ...save the people
From what is being rumored....Get ready is right! Positions are being eliminated... Leads....gone. Supervisors...gone. Shoe getters....gone. Visual managers....eliminated. Merchandise Team Managers...gone Structure of store changing soon/fast. It sounds pretty bad. I feel sorry for Macys and Dept. Stores.
My store opened in early May and they still haven't brought back all of the supervisors yet. It was announced this week that they will be returning in the next week or two. I know how easy it is to get stressed out when you don't get called back right away, I was one of those people. Now that I'm back at work, I miss being furloughed. Try to take this time and enjoy what I'm sure is a much needed break from retail. It will all work out.
I'd rather see the sales supervisors come back because they would work unlike management.
They were not "demotive" (not even a word) ...these people kept their titles and hourly rates and benefits but are working in selling and AYS alivg with the ones called back. They are doing a little of everything, just like before.
we don't need titles
we need people willing to work together
In our store 703 one store manager, Lp\Op manager, visual manager, and one SM. Two supervisors were demotive to associates and one sales lead demotive to associate too. Big changes coming in July.
My store they only have store manager, op/ap manager and fulfillment managers and one lead.
With the protests and damages to urban stores such as SF, and Chicago that were used For bonds why would they rebother opening them? Just sell them
I'm a lead at a store with 2 SM's, 1 supervisor, and 2 leads. We have all been called back.
Thank you for your response it was very helpful.
My store has been open a couple weeks with reduced hours and we do not have our sales supervisors or all of our sales managers back. Not all of our support managers have returned either. I have no basis to say if you should be concerned about your job but I believe the call backs are based on volume of business.
