Thread regarding IBM layoffs

How quickly do you all forget

People who think they could win an age discrimination suit against IBM: do you remember two years ago when journalists (Mother Jones or some similar site) did all the research and managed to prove that IBM was discriminating based on age when it comes to layoffs? Do you remember what happened? Everybody was upset for a full 5 minutes and then it all went away like it always does. And there was proof! But nobody cared once the dust settled down.

Thinking you could go against IBM and actually win in the end is naive at best and stupid at worse. But you do you, buddies, you do you.

Many cases settled with a confidentially clause. You sound like an IBM corporate troll from HR or legal. Latest was the Langley Suit in April in Texas. Was dropped suddenly by both parties indicating a settlement. IBM did not want any more discovery around age discrimination.

Do you recall what mother jones / pro publica data actually said?

"""
ProPublica estimates that in the past five years alone, IBM has eliminated more than 20,000 American employees ages 40 and over, about 60 percent of its total US job cuts during those years. (Read more about how ProPublica got the story here.)
"""

If that's the stat they went with for their expose, to me it's complete exoneration. Why do you find this compelling for discrimination?

You need to research all the settled cases. You do!
