So what do you think the chances are that we will get called back to work? Or do you think it’s more likely that the furlough will turn into a permanent layoff?

Nobody can answer a broad question about who or how many will be brought back from furlough. It will all depend on the area of the company you work in. In my group, in Webster, some people were furloughed, and we want to bring them back. But we have not received the go-ahead to do so. Buildings are still in the process of being re-opened. Budgets are being re-assessed. My expectation is that some of the people who were furloughed will return, but not all at once, and maybe not all of them will make it back. That's just a guess, though.
im a site engineer on furlough (direct) I have a feeling if I do come back it will be to just put all the kit on a lorry as the customer will prob change to remote working, this pandemic will be a game changer,I would not be surprised if xerox will merge/be bought by year end.
Facade? Not from this esteemed kaedership team...
the furlough thing seems like a facade. They normally V/IRIF people but why the immediate need of pay suspension? Something is telling me a merger is in the works behind the scenes with HP or someone else.
It's not over, another wave is coming.
Xerox AR in dire straights, until that turns around don't count on coming back, I lost a ton of people in my area and we can't keep up with the work load but nobody cares, they're all just looking out for themselves
I got a glimpse of the amount of furloughs that have been done in each region and I was shocked at how many there have been. It's not the small numbers I thought it was. I don't know how those groups will be able to cover the work in the near term.
As for the techs who have been furloughed: I'm guessing that only half of them will be called back.
We had seven of fourteen techs furloughed and it would have been higher, but we have permanent techs in some of our hospitals.
Xerox is lay-off City and John V is the mayor. Although this is all speculation perhaps history is a good guide. Yes, there will be massive layoffs.!
How many furloughs are there? I know I've heard of HCL furloughs, but not a whole lot of Xerox direct.
I heard techs are getting slammed with calls and driving ungodly amounts of miles. I think the techs should move slower and only try to do 3-4 calls per day then maybe xerox will hand to bring some of us back sooner.
We are already failing to meet SLA's. Just beyond stupid to wait till things start opening up to do the furloughs. BUT we have id–t's running, or should that be "ruining" the company at the top level.
Depends on work load. If they can't meet sla without them, they will come back
Many furloughs will concert directly to lay-offs and the company will wait as long as possible to protect themselves before having to pay out for these cuts.
