Thread regarding IBM layoffs

The separation process

Anyone else received Workday emails? The best so far is Your Separation is Now in Progress. Looks like my manager is wasting no time in getting me on the way out.

I also attended the Rights Management webinar but have yet to make personal contact.

About dental and Cobra. I'm going to buy the Cobra dental coverage for one month which is less than $28 and I can get my semi-annual cleaning. Why? Because if I pay cash, my dental office charges $252–Cobra seems like a good deal to me. I made a July appointment before Covid. I'm trying to get it pushed up to June so my employed status will cover it. But the dental office is slammed in June due to all the cancellations from March through May.

Like many others, Separation date is 6/22 for me not 6/30 but I am not in sales.

Had IBM confirmed the layoff #s In US?

Don’t waste your moneys on COBRA....u can get insurance at 1/2-1/10th the cost
Dental is a joke anyway with nonpayment.
Unless you expect life treating hospitalization next week, find something better.

Your manager doesn’t have a choice not to delay action, workday task is 48hrs turnaround.
They’ll get multiple notifications during that time to do a quick task.
They should confirm with you vacation taken and address for assets box to be delivered to as part of that task.

Your manager should have reached out this week for a second meeting after giving you the bad news. If they haven’t, bad on them but you should reach out to them just the same.
They are just the messenger and should not be looked at as the focus to your understandable frustration.

I get a 6/30 date if I separate as involuntary retirement. At least it is a weeks more pay.

Using this thread to cover all separation logistics. I asked about dental in another thread–I talked to Net Benefits and dental is NOT included in the first 12 months IBM medical plan. However, you can continue dental coverage if you pay the entirety of the COBRA monthly rate. You pay monthly and can quit at any time. I have an appointment set for July. I may pay for one month coverage so this appointment will be covered by insurance.

Those with separation date of 6/30 might be sales people that I hope will be owed commissions thru 6/30. Anyone else out there besides me ?

I've received emails from Workday for 'Your Separation is Now in Process' and
'Statement of Understanding'.

No 'Vacation Balance' email. When was that sent ?

I too received the workday separation email along with the vacation balance email. Funny part is that they have no plan in place to continue the work once few of the team members are gone.

I have 6/22 as separation, pay through and last day at work. Your differing dates does seem odd.
