All of the bully pulpit comments are getting tiring. The hard questions arent being asked. Like why are subgroups being moved off the balance sheet. What are the metrics and why is it happening. I would suggest that for now the Titanic is being bailed with small buckets. What is long term strategy other than keeping the stock price from failing to zero.
Are you new to the tech industry? Companies get acquired all the time and if employees are retained, it's not a layoff. It's absurd and plainly wrong.
VMware just acquired Lastline and laid off 40% of their employees. THAT'S a layoff. You might not like the acquisition and working for a different company but that's what you sign up for when you work in this industry. You can whine all you want but you still have a job.
Yea I feel you. Dic—ad managers walk around promoting (their own) ‘leadership’ as if that’s what matters or they got a clue. Its the people doing the actual work and innovation that keep the company going. The so called ‘leadership’ should be looking out and taking the advise of their people instead of getting rid of them as a means to protect their outrageous salaries. Hard to blame them - old snakes that have been around and continue doing the same thing that put them in their position to begin with. Company could use a nice purge of the old farts to change direction somewhat. It wont happen because the no one has the balls...get rid of your own and buy others via acquisitions seems to the trend. Tough market for commodity resellers.
Wow your spin on truth is pretty condescending. You didn't reach out to the team as i never heard from anyone going isn't this great. You keep claiming it wasn't a layoff since we are now partners and AWF employees but Yes it was a layoff we had two days to decide take a job or be without one. The be without one is pretty clear so you relied on the fact that much of us didnt have much of an option.
The benefits are less, all my saved up vacation time is gone and who knows how long before we get cut at the other company. The 5 year contract doesn't mean they will keep me for 5 years.

Spare us the indignation troll, the WARN act is only required if 50 or more are impacted. Ask any of those impacted July of last year or those conveniently moved to a partner last month. If you got a severance you got laid off.

It’s also just a single person who reloads a page, upvotes their own post and downvotes others. We know this because the votes ramp up and down within 5 minutes, not over time as you would expect with casual readers. This is a site about layoffs and the truth is there haven’t been any WARN layoff notices on NetApp in a long time. Period.

I thought this forum was designed to discuss layoffs or the events that might lead to them. If any opinion that sheds a negative light on our future is construed as a "troll" it makes me think that the company is a cult. All of us should be paying attention to the criticisms. There is certainly more than enough cool aid already.

I believe that the upper management at NetApp is way more clever than Schwarz and his staff was. After 2005, and once the large servers didn’t sell anymore, Sun had no more products to offer for a world hungry for virtualization. But we‘ll see...
It's not knowledge. It's fate. You have the same belief in George Kurian that SUN employees had in Jonathan Schwartz and the soldiers had in Custer. SUN was a much much larger and influential company than NetApp will ever be and it swirled down the drain. Caveat Emptor.
