They will pay severance or deal with lawsuits.
They keep them despite having to pay their benefits because they know that if they have them on furlough long enough in many states they can lay off and they will not need to pay a severance pay.
If you are lucky enough to find a new job, there is probably a waiting period before you are eligible for health care at your new place. Don't tell BBB that you quit until they call you back, delay telling them as long as possible, that way you keep your low end medical coverage without having to pay for Cobra or going uninsured for a little while... I think if you leave on the 1st-15th of the month your coverage expires on the 15th, if you leave the 16th -31st, your coverage expires on the last day of the month. Try to leave on the 1st or the 16th....Fair is fair.
I know that job searching is a PITA. But if all you're doing is waiting on pins and needles for a phone call, you're giving all the power to BBB. Wouldn't you rather have an offer for another job so you can tell BBB goodbye instead of waiting on BBB to tell YOU goodbye?

well I think it’s weird why some FTs are still furloughed. The company continues to pay for their benefitS, but why??? They already know that they won’t need them. The company wants to keep lying in my opinion.
I never worked so hard and still get beat up for not doing enough.
Going back is no picnic! We are so understaffed it's ridiculous! Customer service is non existent due to the priority of CDS and BOPIS orders.
stop waiting get off your a– and get a job it wont be pretty when or should i say if you go back the company is crumbling before your eyes and your blind to it
