Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

The Layoff

FYI if you received "inconsistent" in any of the past two years you'll be one of the first to go most likely.

I have never gotten a mid-year review and I’ve been there six years!

As a CSL for 30 years I can tell you that we were encouraged to rate people inconsistent on a regular basis, especially those already in the upper part of their salary range. I was encouraged to tell the employee that “inconsistent is not a bad rating”. Ask your manager to explain the ratings “bell curve” if you make it long enough to see another PDS. So glad to be out of such a deceitful company.

It has been a year now. Pay attention, I said I had my review before my one year. Thats 2 weeks of severance plus unemployment. Thank God I save, if they pick me, I am collecting what is owed. I got enough to last a year. Thats enough savings til I find a new career. I aint quitting, they going to have to walk me out. It is what it is or going to be. Everyone is speculating. Why are folks so snappy on here, be nice!! Karma is real..

I’d be more concerned if I was more or less maxed out in my party band. But I’m not going to miss poor performers.

Well being less than a year you are not eligible for severance or any benefits so with less than a year and inconsistent you are an easy chop at no cost to the company except their portion of unemployment benefits. Knowing this company they will not consider ethics or effects on you. They don't care about 30 year employees let alone a newer inconsistent employee.

I'd get the resume updated if I were you.

I had my review as a new employee at 7 months. I didnt even have a full year. They were to do my review this June, then December they said we are going your PDS. I was rated inconsistent, but I was new into the role. Clearly I would be inconsistent. LDU is a beast. So I hope they don't go off that. You cant learn all LDU in 7 months.. Yall need to stop talking this malarkey.

I personally would be all for all those who were overall "inconsistent" for the last two years in every department be let go in every department. No need to keep this unproductive dead weight around and a cost savings.

It amazes me that some managers actually talk to their people and other seem oblivious to the process.

It is the final overall rating that counts and mid year doesn't count.

If you were inconsistent for the final review that covers 2019 you are probably not going to be retained, I have heard from some friends in other departments that some who had inconsistent were already told they are being let go.

This type of comment pisses me off. Quit making people worry even more about ratings. This poster is clueless and just stirring up emotion. Talk to your immediate leader. Don’t listen to this garbage!!!

Maybe the reviewer is the weak link

If you were "inconsistent" overall why shouldn't you go? Why should Allstate keep failure and less than mediocre workers? I'd like to see someone try to counter that.

When you say the first to go will be those with “inconsistent”. Are you talking about the PDS review as a whole or the individual sections within the PDS?

In a lot of areas mid-year reviews weren't done with the preoccupation of COVID and remote working. I know several areas that they weren't done. I believe they are mainly looking at 2018 and 2019. But let's be serious they already know who they are going to keep and who goes. All this assessment and review doo doo is just legal protection against any potential lawsuits.

what if you didn't get a mid year review? or changed roles in past two years? how will they access those individuals?

What about 2020 mid-year? We were told they were not taking that into consideration, even though they formalized the mid-year performance review this year. So if you met expectations in 2018 and 2019, but suddenly a "inconsistent" shows up this mid-year review, it's hard to believe that won't affect decisions.
