On this site, MRO uses these words in describing itself, “ Marathon Oil Corporation is an energy company operating in the USA, Equatorial Guinea, the UK, and Libya.”
Being that MRO sold out of the UK & Libya at bottom dollar after others had already left these two areas, only to then over pay significantly for marginal land in the Permian, also after others had firmly established their presences, perhaps the company profile should be amended to more accurately depict current circumstances...
My favorite personally is when Tillman said that financially, that we were in a good position because MRO planned head for such cases.
And then....SURPRISE..... lay off off 240 people.... so what does that tell the normal employees.
Mainly our beloved Tillman lied to all of his employees straight faced!!
And then are suppose to look up to them and the stockholders, please?????
The entire “careers” portion of the website reminds me of fraternity rush - everything is great while they’re recruiting you to join, then you get beatings on the regular once you step through the door. By the time you sober up you realize you’ve made an expensive and painful mistake and nothing is as advertised beforehand.
My favorite was the “we are a 100 year old company, but feel like a start up in many ways”. This is accurate in a limited sense - it’s always disorganized, chronically underfunded, your long term incentives may vaporize and you’ll likely report to a millennial dipshit who drinks a daily kale shake while demonstrating repeatedly his/her lack of fitness for the job. Is that what they meant?
Does anyone (other than the dangerously naive) believe the video about Tillman encouraging “unconventional ideas”? Anyone who buys this probably fell for Trump “University” or invested in Chesapeake.
