Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Why are you not learning new skills?

If you are furloughed, why are you not spending all your time trying to pick up a new skill? There are so many free options out there to learn coding, web design, and so many other skills that remain in demand even in the middle of a pandemic. This is an ideal time to try and leave retail. We all know this sector is as good as dead anyhow...

Computers isn’t the answer. I’m trained in many things and still no job in that field. Go learn a trade if you have to ( not saying you have too) the entire Infrastructure of the United States is going to change within the next 5 to 10 years and there’s gonna be tons of jobs in that field

Wow, what a jerk. the last thing anyone needs is a judgemental person like you dictating what one should be doing with their time. People move at their own pace, no need to be so critical.

Saw the writing on the wall in giant letters so my coworker and I went to college and earned our degrees while working. We were let go after being furloughed. It was well worth the effort of earning a college degree after all the failures in poor leadership. The duty to care for all of us is missing after giving everything. Went in got the store ready doing fulfillment and ready for opening, but was let go afterwards. Oh well!!!

Why am I not spending my furlough time learning a new skill? Perhaps the more appropriate question would be why are YOU spending your time chastising complete strangers for not doing something you cannot possibly know whether or not they've done? For your sake I'm glad this is an anonymous forum. Cause if it wasn't, you'd be real easy to spot in the crowd...you'd be the one with egg on her face. (((smh)))

That's exactly what I did. I took some online computer courses from Microsoft and plan to look for more ways to increase my skill levels
