Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk Cutting Hours

Belk is cutting hours at all stores "due to Covid 19". This is supposed to be temporary for "a few weeks". They are trying to prevent another round of furloughs, according to management. This could be Belks' death nail.

Our hours got cut again, and they are trying to run the store with 1 manager and only 12 associates.

They have closed stores in Texas, Tennessee, Georgia over the last few years, they lay off 700 people, and haven’t called back many furloughs. Believe me the darkest days are ahead.

I heard JC Penny has openings....goof grief Belk hasn't closed one store. They are doing what they can to stay alive, unlike other places that have folded already.

Ominous indeed.

Agreed, but this time around it's much more ominous.

Nothing new. Belk always cuts hours last month of season. February and July. FT, 30 hours. Only difference this time is 4 day work week.

Supposedly Belk is doing poorly and is even having trouble paying what few associates are back from furlough.

What does this mean hours cut for employees? Taking them from 35 hours to 30? Someone here knows something more

People are tired of the same sales, c-ap merchandise “deeply” discounted, 70% off c-ap is still c-ap, grumpy associates because they are not being treated well, the list goes on and on, what a shyt show.

Staff hours. From what I heard, sales are way down. Belk is struggling. They are trying to do what they can to prevent more furloughs.

The hours the store is open? Staff hours? If our schedule is already made for next week will they probably redo it then?

Does this mean they won't try to lure shoppers to pack in the stores with meaningless, themed sales? No Black Friday in Summer Deals or Clearance "Blowouts"? No Back to School Bargains, or Shoe Frenzy Sales Bonanza, or more (heavens forbid!) Door "Busters"?!

All with ver-r-r-ry limited exclusions! No coupons! Bring cash! Exact change only!

Air conditioning turned off by management for your safety and convenience.

I sure don't miss those doors getting "busted" all the time.

Don't forget to sign up for Belk credit!

Hurry back!
