Citadel has been trying to acquire a large stake in CHK for months which is why the poison pill was activated. Franklin and Citadel do no play well together and once it became public that Citadel took a 4.5% stake CHK management was pushed by Franklin to file for BK along with provisions to thwart Citadel's efforts. I'm sure there is more to the story and maybe it's all in the "confidential" documents.

How can they do that with the poison pill? Does the pill not work during bk? Also, docket 18 states that all purchases of a substantial holder 440k shares can be voided. So how is this possible?

There has been an ongoing fight between Franklin and Citadel so Franklin coerced CHK to file BK to poke Citadel between the eyes. This will drag for awhile and all the skeletons will come out of their closets.
