I’m a former HR associate and was told not to correct time sheets after we received a new scheduling system. “let them be responsible for their own time” I was told, well half of the time the system was inoperable or my older associates would have difficulty navigating the portal. Associates were being shorted money left and right and we would have to back pay them, finally, after I quit, I was told that the EMPLOYER is responsible to ensure that all employees are paid correctly for time worked, not the EMPLOYEE, especially if it is a system malfunction, Belk was breaking wage and hour laws by not doing their due diligence to ensure all employees were paid correctly.

“I didn’t know anyone was scheduled this early”. that is the same excuse they use at my store!!!!!! That’s so funny...... we too have to sit in the parking lot and wait for the manager, she usually has donuts tho, not a bo picnic basket....lol.
You're lucky to get in. My last days there, fortunately, I was able to clock in using the WorkDay app on my phone. Yep, just sittin' in the parking lot at 0-dark thirty, waitin' for the manager to come waddlin' up 45 minutes late with the same excuse:
"I didn't even know anyone was scheduled this early!"
How? You're allegedly responsible for the place! Put down the large coffe, Bo-Picnic breakfast bags and pastries and check the schedule.
Now, associates? We weren't allowed to see or know anyone else's schedule. Because we could call out if we knew someone was there to cover the shift. That is, before the mass reductions.
Take notice that time is not checked if it’s in Belk’s favor, if an employee is over in time by mistake belk will correct it, that is a sure fire way to tell if a company is trying to steal time from employees.
This is an old tactic used by mostly fast food chains, I’m surprised belk is doing it, it is illegal and a way for a company to steal time from employees, it’s an old illegal tactic, I believe Burger King was in trouble for doing this years back.
I've been telling people to check their time. Mine was wrong many times when i checked it. Why would a company want employees to correct their own time ? Anyone could cheat time. The H.R. department should have been correcting this problem.
I always thought it was wrong. And if you didn't check your time regularly you would get cheated out of time. It happened to me several times. I would check from home and find out that i wasn't clocked in or out or something strange.
