Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Responsibilities of Fine Jewelry Clerical.

We are all in new roles and responsibilities. Can someone please explain the responsibilities of a Fine Jewelry Clerical. The one in the store I work in thinks her responsibility are still the same as it was before the pandemic. Bops, fulfillment, set sales, markdowns being pulled, counts, schedule 10-7. Our clerical wants none of this and wants an 8 to 5 schedule.

Our clerical is a gem. We are truly lucky to have her. She runs our department better than the manager. She is clerical, sales and customer service all rolled up in one. I'm sorry that some of you don't appreciate your clerical. You should try walking in their shoes just for an hour, maybe then you'll appreciate your clerical.

Our full time clerical just got laid off. She was wonderful and did all of those things plus sell when needed, stay late, come early. Many years with the company. And what did they do, sent her an email that she saw when she got home from work. Just not fair.

Your clerical needs to get with the program. Everyone is doing more than they used to. We have to if we are going to survive. Ours does everything mentioned in your OP and by the other poster who responded, and also sizes watches AND covers the lunches in FJ. If yours isn't stepping up but just complains and won't do what's necessary, then she needs to GO and be replaced with a team player.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for clarifying to all those in the store who think the clericals don’t do anything. We do more than we get credit for....
And they keep giving us more to do!!

Countable case counts are the responsibility of the FJ colleague who opens, not the clerical. The clerical's duties have not changed or been redefined. He/she maintains the books, processes all NRT's exclusively (no other hands should be on the fine NRT's until after clerical has unpacked them & entered them onto the case sheets log book). Other responsibilities are: RTV's, the one who works w/the auditor when he comes in, packs/ships repairs, store transfers, secaucus transfers, creates manifests & labels, markdowns/markups, and most of the other things you mentioned. The hours do not vary but are set (and determined) by the store mgr based upon the store's needs-not all stores have FT clericals, some are PT, and still others don't have one at all. A good clerical is worth their weight in gold.
