In the store that I work at, the Receiving Team Manager became a "Receiving Captain." What exactly does that mean? They still do the same job functions/tasks just now report to the OVM instead of the OAPM, which was eliminated. Any downgrade in terms of pay and management level?

I was told when I received a call back that I would be coming back as receiving captain but might be put in a different role if interested. Then I came back and 3 days later was told position is eliminated and have no option but to take a sales manager position. Now the sales manager is the OVM and I now will be doing his job. He will be overseeing the job I do now receiving/fulfillment. Fyi I have been in the MTM role before for many yrs before it was cut in my store a few years ago. but yet I can't be OVM? It's all so crazy.
My RTM became a Logistics Manager report to OVM Director and we also have a Receiving Captain who report to LM. We are a $60 mil store.
They basically got demoted to a lead, now known as captain. Some stores they don't even have a receiving captain, the RTM was eliminated and basically given to a sales manager who has no clue or any experience in receiving.
As someone previously mentioned, I'm sure if they are now just captain, they took a pay cut as they are not an executive anymore. The cuts were made mainly to save money. However, I doubt it will affect their PTO as PTO is mainly based on their length of service, unless of course they were fairly new to the company.
What new role is your"awesome MTM" taking, because that role was eliminated, too..?
Yes, they still do the same job functions/tasks just now report to the OVM instead of the OAPM. It also means they are no longer an executive, they are a colleague, so the benefits change completely. The PTO for Colleagues is A LOT less than it is for executives. I am guessing it comes with a nice hourly way cut as well, since the pay scale for a Captain and for an RTM is completely different. Time for a career change. Run, don't walk!
If you're a Captain, you're in charge of rats wanting to leave a sinking ship.
It means you have to salute every morning when you come in. Aye aye, Captain!
In my store, the RTM title has been eliminated, but the role has been planted on the lap of my awesome MTM, amongst many other roles. This sh– is depressing when you and your team care so damn much for a company that is sh–ting on you. I laugh because it seems like every year I have been at Macy's, we would complain about this or that. Now, it's like damn- we had it made back then and didnt realize it. Good Luck to everyone.
