I think most of us would be happy to leave this place for good if there was a viable alternative. But in this economy with millions of newly unemployed people and very few available jobs, who in their right mind would walk away from a job, no matter how bad it might be? If somebody can offer us viable alternatives, I'll thank them profusely and be on my way. Until then, I - like so many others - am stuck here.

Better Alternative to Belk? 30 years in prison
I was part of the lay offs in February and a senior citizen. I felt that because of my age that I would be unhirable . But I found yes there jobs out there and employers desperate for candidates. You just have to take the leap and look! I got a much better job, better pay, better hours and more respect!
I would imagine anything with the exception of fast food is better than belk. maybe even target or wal mart may be a slight improvement (they pay more).
Go to work for the state. With the Covid-19 situation going strong, there will be plenty of need for contact tracers, the work can be done from home and any training is provided.
Unless you really like black fridays and holidays at retail, try getting into any nearby manufacturing plants though a temp agency. Those jobs often become permanent after a short time.
Local tech schools (NOT the random online study programs as-see-on-TV~) have affordable courses for all modern trades (just don't do a student loan 'cos you'll regret it!) and lots of study at home options.
Don't limit yourself in a job. Get out there. Get focused. Get something you like!
it’s sad to see belk struggling.
I wouldn’t wait for someone to “offer” you something. Be prepared, your time is almost up at Belk.
Target is hiring starting at $15 an hour
