We are REQUIRED BY LAW to take a “break” (10-15 minutes) every 5 hours. Yet this company doesn’t care! Unless you work OVER 5 hours you don’t get a break! It’s borderline illegal what they are doing...and yes we are being FINED for this but they don’t care. Not enough employees.
Every other company has given me a break after working 4-5 hours EXCEPT for BBB!
Depends on the state you are employed in with BBB and your hrs for that day
Yes you either get one 10 min break or one 15 min break- punch in and out
Look it up in your employee hand book, call HR or call your state labor department to get the correct information
Go pee or other on company time not your breaks
You shouldn’t feel put out by asking to go to the bathroom
It is not the company’s policy to give any break if you are not in a state that requires it. In other states if someone is to go on a smoke break they much punch out, go smoke, then go back in. And even that is depending on the DM. Bbb is not great with following general labor laws but even more so they do not care about their associates enough to offer it like other companies do nation wide.
What I find interesting, is the older employees bust there backsides, while younger employees taking breaks. 15 minutes that last 30 minutes, smoke breaks that last a half hour. If you request a break, it might take a long time to get, if the supervisor remembers

This company won’t give you anything unless you push them for it, regardless if a break is required by law. Been that way all the fifteen years I was with them and I left three years ago.
Keep looking for that better job and get out as fast as you can.
From what I understand, it depends on where you live as to whether you get 15 min breaks. I live in Florida which does not require employers to give 15 min breaks, so of course BBB does not give them. I have worked in stores who go cross eyed if you’re off the floor for more than 3 min, but I’ve also worked in stores where if you ask to take a break, they’ll allow you.
For some strange reason since I started working for this company, I have not gotten a 15 minute break, no one has besides managers and supervisor they do what ever and when ever. I have to hurry to the bathroom, drink something and back to work. Sometimes I even feel and notice they get mad or don't like it when you ask them to cover you because you work upfront. Sometimes when you call them they even take there time to come up. Fine with me if your with a customer (but besides that just take your time I just need to go to the bathroom and very thirsty and until you don't come up I can't do anything) No 15 minute break here. But this won't last forever. 👌
