If it’s true 60 % of the corporate office was laid off then that is a precursor to bankruptcy/going out of business..... I’m speechless....

I’ve noticed a strange culture of favoritism and managers who are less knowledgeable about store operations than associates, very unusual the way belk promotes managers, I’ve never seen anything like it, I was lucky enough to quit in December 2019.

Unfortunately I’ve seen many of these boxes checked off at the corporate office. Can anyone who also worked at corporate chime in?
They barely had staff to run store before covid,I quit my job and they still haven't hired anybody for it ,the place is a joke, making associates do multiple positions and no raises and took vacation time away which they might as well done because everything you asked for was turned down anyways
According to news reports, Belk employs 1,300 at corporate office. A 60% reduction would mean 780 employees laid off, and 520 remaining? Of the 780 employees laid off, we’re all furloughed in March/April time frame due to COVID19 with some brought back and laid off 6/30 and others transitioned to permanent lay off from furlough status? If so, the number is high and no WARN notice to state of N.C.?
So are the ones already on furlough being layed off also ?
The difference is belk is hush hush about almost anything finance related
Random thought. Maybe is was needed for the company to survive? JC Penny closed...Macy's let go 3900 which is way more that the 60% Belk let go. VS closed stores. This happening to companies all across America. Sad, but what's different?
The 60% figure includes people already laid off due to coronavirus. Number is somewhat misleading, but still not good.
