If today was your last official day with Macy's, thank you for all you did during the time you worked here. Today we said good bye to a few colleagues who came back from furlough but whose positions were eliminated. And we didn't get to say good bye to our friends that did not come back from furlough, but were laid off. You will all be missed by your colleagues and customers.
I'm sure you helped me clean out a fitting room, ring with me to get a line down, pick up last act off the floor or close a register. We spent time complaining about customers, our nasty store manager (we only had one at our location!) or lack of staffing. We shared recipes, talked about holiday plans, kids and grand kids on our dinner break. Maybe we didn't know each other very well, but always smiled and said hi to each other. You were the person that brought cupcakes or candy in to brighten everyone's day. It was my pleasure to know and work with all of you.
It was hard losing these people today. The morale in our store is as low as I've seen it I think a lot of us are frustrated with how the stores are run, but the people we work with make the job worthwhile. I wish everyone who was laid off good luck and thank you again for making our lives better.

I have been on medical leave this past year, never went back to work after we opened again. There were plenty of times that I was frustrated with the job but I will miss talking to co workers and some customers. For us who lost our jobs, hopefully we will find something where we will be appreciated more. Good luck to all remaining employees.
You're welcome! We took a lot of merch out of that store over the years! Haven't bought any clothes, kitchenware, or jewelry in the 15 years with Macy's. Good times, good times.
