Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Tomorrow

Tomorrow will be the last day for many of us at Macy’s. Many great memories were created with this company. But as the saying goes “nothing lasts forever”. If tomorrow is your last day, I wish you peace and a successful future in your new choice of career. I think many people see where the future of retails is headed this rounds of cuts. Macy’s is trying to survive but also used Covid as an excuse to layoff. Every year it’s the same thing, the same worry of if it will be you next. Until The older heads running this company are gone that’s when Macy’s will pick back up. Macys is doing things now that companies started doing years ago. Times have changed but the leadership of Macy’s has not. Not that they aren’t good leaders. They just aren’t good for the world that retail has shifted in right now.
So if tomorrow is your last day, realize that not many retire from Macy’s and that your future and retirement may have a better chance with another company.
If you are still employed, read above. Give your career a chance. Give yourself a chance to enjoy life and be able to balance your work and life. If you’ve returned to stores, you’ll see how much of a sweat shop it has become. The magic is lost and EVERYONE (except for your store manager and above) has been busting their behinds. Executives have been given multiple jobs with same pay. My friend once said to me “if you don’t put a price on your self worth someone else will do it for
You, and you won’t like the numbers”. Take a chance! Good luck!

This is the second time I've been laid off by Macy's. You would think I learned. "So long, don't let the door hit your a–."

I tell you this.. i wont miss being treated like a criminal day in day out by loss prevention team in my store.. following you around into bathroom,. walking behind you in stock room when you didn't do anything.. i wont miss managers who do nothing and them blame the associates for everything .
i wont miss the politics of the store manager not liking someone who prolly could do their job better than they could.. and last but not least i wont miss the c-appy customer entitled base and whiny lazy coworkers who think cause they showed up to work they deserve a big pay check.. now in the future i have learn to spot this nonsense in other companies and will avoid it Retail is dead

I have to disagree with only one point. Our store manager has "busted his butt" with our company and store for all the time he's been at Macy's. I do not hold this against him. He offered me a job (VM to Visual Captain) even though it was a demotion. I declined and am leaving, today was actually my last day. I don't blame him for this at all. Visual was my "thing" and I would not have been happy doing anything else. But I can't afford the big cut in pay. Godspeed to each of you.
