Exactly. CHK was never a great company - ever. Just prior to 2013 it was an orchestrated charade with the best puppetmaster/criminal around.

They know what they were walking into when the signed up. Do you think they didn't know? It is a win-win. Extremely high salary, hero if I succeed and it was already doomed if I don't. Why not take a shot. It only hurts employees and stockholders who were really already screwed anyway.

Lawler could have saved this company with the money from the Marcellus sale. Instead he blew it drilling wells that he promised a 20 or 40 percent return. Most of those wells will never pay out anything other than dozens, if not hundreds, of lawsuits from angry landowners. He needs to own the destruction he’s brought to this once great company.
