Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

My experiences at Xerox Canada

Xerox Canada is a small market. I spent 15 years moving through the ranks at X Canada. It used to be a small close knit & fantastic group. We didn’t make a lot of money but we were happy & drove results. Then around 2014-2015 things began to degrade significantly, after years of steady but small decline - we saw significant drops in revenue beginning in those years, attributed to Ricoh dropping prices & creating major price erosion. In reality I think that was just one factor - the other being that the digital transformation revolution in industry really became apparent. Why does anyone need to print? Expensive, clunky, costly & frankly environmentally damaging - we even sold Papercut SW & other print saving solutions to clients - all the while selling the rope that would eventually hang us. Fastforward to the failed Fuji Merger debacle. Things turned unbearable almost over night. US leadership took over with the ‘N America’s’ geo’ - amalgamating Canada into a small territory - and rightfully so. Our C class became irrelevant overnight. Then the high profile exits began. Our CFE, CEO, VP of Sales, Top Accountant, Top Lawyer...this was following quickly by our top sales people. All the talent disappeared within 12 months. We were left with B and C teams - and then one by one the layoffs would roll out. People who mistakenly dedicated decades would be tossed out. Your coworker was laid off & now u did 2-3 jobs under unimaginable demands. The US direction would change weekly. Then HCL rebadging affected me personally & it was the last straw. I took a few months & found a new fantastic job & career path that I love. Three months after I left almost my entire former team was gone (either replaced by HCL or exited on their own). I feel bad for those who remain because of it was THAT bad before COVID...my god, what is coming next????

Thanks for sharing your story. This is playing out at many of the US cores as well. Glad you've moved on and found something better!
