Background Check after Job Selection Process

After the job selection round and assuming you receive a job offer, do you have to go through the entire background check process again (i.e. D–g screening, employment history check, etc?)

I knew a scientist in ETC who secretly started working from home 15 years ago. He would do all his work online so he never fell behind. People thought he was with customers when he was away from his desk. He was home drinking beer most days with his wife! Never got caught.

There are no background checks.

I’m sure the local clinic is thoroughly disinfected everyday and also in between patients. Don’t be an alarmist. Do you think the medical staff will work there if there was a high risk of contracting an illness?

California doesn’t allow random d–g testing. But an employer can still mandate it for employees suspected of d–g abuse. The idea was not to cast a wide net that catches people who smoke a joint some Saturday nights who wouldn’t have otherwise been suspected of abuse.

For CVX employees, company policy for someone failing a d–g / alcohol screen, on the first offense, is to offer a return to work program which involves completing a 3 month recovery program and abstaining from all addictive substances for 3 years. This includes alcohol and you'll get tested weekly and/or monthly during that 3 year period. This is not supposed to affect hiring / firing, promotions, etc. within the company going forward. You do not get a 2nd chance on this.

It's interesting this is brought up because I've always heard that people working in California (at least office employees) were not subject to random d–g screens due to some Cali state law. If this is true, those working from those locations might need to clean up quick, in the event they get hired as a part of CVX org outside of California.

Also, just because you're working from home doesn't mean you're not subject to random d–g / alcohol testing. You can be called in to a local clinic to give the same test you'd normally give at the office. A word of advice is to keep the afternoon whiskey's after hours.

I’m sure they’ll do a background check. In case for some reason you didn’t get cut in the first round, by the time they realize you are white and straight, they’ll filter you out in the second round. That’s the revamped Chevron Way from here on out. It will be fast tracked if the Dems take the WH and Senate.

If you are wanting to keep smoking chevy is not the company for you. They random test more then any other major. Even the office staff. What out around lay-off time they test more often and everyone will get tested. It’s their way of laying off. Go to Exxon it’s a sole crushing company but you can smoke there as they never test office staff

One of the great benefits to working from home is an afternoon glass of whiskey (in a sippy cup) to get one through the zoom meetings. Be careful not to smoke weed on camera, of course.
