Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

History

For those of you hoping to blame all this on DL, read recent media publications from credible sources and journalists. People are going to really start looking in to the history of this company now and I couldn’t be happier. Going from $19bn - $10bn is somewhat a success alone, given nightmare the industry has gone through over the last few years. There isn’t a single CEO in the energy sector that could have saved this company and those in the know understand this. DL biggest mistake was the day he signed that contract. And for those of you that will claim “he’s now rich off the backs of CHK employees” look at his history too and where his career was going. He would be a CEO of a much stronger entity now. I wish him all the best.

Little secret? Lol the worlds worst kept secret. I can see CHK is doing a full court press and getting the bootlickers out in force. As said before.... CHK went from a master crook to a master incompetent. 7 years to get it right. How bout another 7? Lol Bootlickers!

DL has done alright. It’s true that it was a rough start. Financially, the company has done ok considering the legacy.

The only thing DL has really s—ed at is being engaged with people outside of the C suite. Leadership and company culture is pretty terrible. DL basically has no leadership, but financial decisions have been about as good and as creative as anyone could muster. Wildhorse sure was bad timing and a bad deal, though.

And people are mad because shareholders got the shaft and are diluted? Bro, do you even invest? I mean, the balance sheets are made public. Can you read and do basic math? That’s what companies that need the money do man.... but you have to be smart enough to know that. Even the best companies would do the same if caught in dire straights like AKM left this company in.

I’ll let you in to a little secret; CHK was days away from closing it’s doors in DL first few weeks. Quick and decisive actions is what allowed the company to still employ people to this day.

You clearly have no idea how bad of a shape this organization was in. We had a multi million dollar wine collection and had never made A PENNY off any well the last regime drilled. Especially as AKM took his share first.

I’m hindsight DL could have just let the company go belly up in his first few months, nobody would have blamed him and he would have made out like a bandit with his reputation in tact. Fortunately, those of us that have worked outside OKC still value him. My thinking is he will have a much happier exit and life after CHK than the last “leader”.

Lol! “No one has made money in the last seven years” lol! Yes the shareholders have been shafted but Building 1 sure made out.
Do the peasants understand how much 19 billion is? Umm yeah, yes we do. Quick and decisive action in 2013-14 would have paired that debt down below where it is today. They gambled and they lost. Seven years. Not a small period of time
to leave a mark.
Was it impossible? Well let’s just say this, if that crew thought it was, they have lied to everyone from day one, cashing in everyday.
Go back to the bunker and await orders.

Exactly. No one in the last 7 years has made millions off CHK except AKM and his band of thieves when they left with theOr very rich employment agreements and severance. Fact.

You do understand just how much money $19bn in debt is right? It was the impossible task.

Ahhhh see the CHK “truth” patrol has been out complaining about completely legit posts. Not to worry the truth about DL and crew is out there. You can blame AKM all you want but seven years is a long time to point the finger without looking in the mirror. Shame on the BOD for letting this happen.

Lawler got rich by stealing from royalty owners via "Marketing Fee's" and G&T on oil and gas leases that CHK entered into willing that contained specific "no cost whatsoever" clauses. The BOD went along with it. Hopefully after CH 11 reorg - Doug and his partners in crime Del and Jim will be sent packing.

Nope, a grown up that has worked in this industry long enough to be able to see sense.
