Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

PSR is here to stay in some form

Unfortunately PSR is alive and well on CN, CSX, NS, etc. CSX is still laying off and just released 50 at their headquarters in the past 2 weeks. NS closed Linwood Yard which was a major hump yard and laid off almost all employees there. NS has been contracting smaller routes to short lines, reducing company liability while still making a profit. I know everyone (including me) wants PSR to go away, but the truth is this will not be reversed. As to the comments about customers..when did the upper management and stock holders ever care about them? The only thing that matters to the board of directors and stock holders is profit. They don't care what anyone thinks about the profit grab, only that it happens. You are delusional if you believe these corporations will just reverse course, say they are wrong and go back to the previous way of doing business. This is the new reality for RR companies unless the government steps in and re-regulates the business. With the current political leadership this is not going to happen as they are for less government involvement in business and hates regulation. We have a choice - Keep working until this stabilizes or find somewhere else to go. Unfortunately with the COVID-19 pandemic, the options for other employment have temporarily dwindled. I wish everyone, both agreement and non-agreement good luck. Regardless of ones feelings about union vs management, many good people on both sides and their families have been hurt by the implementation of PSR and the greed of millionaire board members and stockholders.
