Today was a rough one. I'm an outside garden cashier. I love being outside. I have a cooling cloth I use to help me stay cool. It's been a challenge with the face mask, but in order for me to be able to see my grandkids, I wear an N97 mask and enforce the 6 foot rule with no exceptions. I had a difficult customer that's too lengthy to share. Once they left, I started with the next one in line. I asked her to stand back 6 feet from her cart.BTW, she wasn't wearing a mask.
She laughed and smirked and stood her ground. I signed out of the register and told the customer she would have to go to another cashier. I walked away. I went indoors and let a head cashier know I was taking 10. I had her full support.
Afterwards, I let my frontend manager know as well. She was great. Her response, people can be so mean. I'm thankful I have a great crew to work with.
