Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

We will be smaller at all levels when we re-open for the fall season

We have been on several calls where it was made clear that we will be smaller at all levels when we re-open for the fall season. Don't expect to see a rush to bring back non-essential people regardless of their position, as a matter of fact, mid level regional and divisional managers add little real value as the company is finding out.

Things are going smoothly without the need to filter direction from central leaders through regional and divisional teams. Why pay glorified cheerleaders to nag and nitpick store managers, often distorting and revising the message with their own opinions and feelings. Bring them back last if at all, we can be smaller, leaner, faster, without the countless conference calls, requests for actions plans, and other tasks that take us away from our teams and customers while adding little to no value.

Perfectly stated, @ruj+154Z02Ce.

People will not come to malls ...

  1. S. savings rate hits record 33% as coronavirus causes Americans to stockpile cash, curb spending

The personal savings rate hit a historic 33% in April, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis said Friday.

"There is a tremendous uncertainty and virus fear that is lingering and that is restraining people's desire to go out and spend as they normally would," said Gregory Daco, chief U.S. economist at Oxford Economics.

With the U.S. consumer accounting for more two-thirds of the economy, the economic recovery depends on whether the increase in savings is a result of shutdowns or structural changes in consumer habits, analysts said.

The increase in savings came as spending declined by a record 13.6% for the month.

I think it basically comes down to did you play politics at your store ??
Were you nice to the right people ??
We’re you a pain ?? Or did you put on your happy face and comply and solve problems??
Did you make your goals??
What does it cost to bring you back??
Were you seen at the morning donut rallies??
I think and Naturally every business I probably is thinking this way they just want to get back to the way it was and we want the same thing.
Now this interruption has exposed weaknesses and maybe things that aren’t necessary to move forward And so changes come about.... and in very painful way. The game is changed if you don’t change you’re gonna die... What are the options??
The machine has to live(businesses) and peoples life’s will be interrupted, Cast aside, Moved, Scaled and all forgotten.... all for the machine. Reality is here to stay

Store managers cannot manage the pyramids where they have no experience, i.e. visual, lp.... and as seen, without the watchdogs i.e. operations... stores would use hours at their discretion and continually go over budget. Ive see crazy things that stores have done left to their own devices.

I do agree with cutting the fat.... do we need an RMD for every FOB? Or at all? My macys? Logistics? Business analyst?

Macy's is dead. Cannot run a store with 4 people. Customers were p-ss-d off before with lack of help. Now it is 10x worse.

I hate that Macy's has to be smaller to survive and I understand people are angry... what are the other options? How does macys come back without being leaner? I am not trying to start trouble here. I'm not a company plant. I'm seriously asking what other options are out there? Many of my close friends are still on furlough. These are people I love and care for. I am dying for them to come back. I just don't see how they can all come back....so I hope the company brings the right people back when it does happen. I hope they really dig deep and don't just eliminate people based on job titles.
